iTED 1.0 Released!

Version 1.0 of iTED has been released into the public. This is the initial release. As of this writing, it is available only in the Android market. You can get it by searching for “ited”.

This release covers the basic features that I felt were needed for a solid 1.0:

  • Live Grid for real-time monitoring of all recurring statistics (power, voltage, and cost)
  • Utility details to check out the current rate plan and how many days are left in your utility’s billing cycle
  • Power graph that displays and scales based on current kW power usage
  • Power details that displays the highs and lows for the day and current billing cycle, the average daily usage, and the projected usage at the end of the billing cycle
  • Voltage graph that displays and scales based on current voltage (as voltage in the US is generally 110 – 120V, this graph isn’t terribly exciting)
  • Voltage details that displays the highs and lows for the day and current billing cycle
  • Cost graph that displays and scales based on cost calculations in relation to kW power consumption and your current rate plan
  • Cost details that displays the highs and lows for the day and the current billing cycle as well as the projected cost for the end of the billing cycle
  • Settings screen that lets you enter or change settings for connecting to your TED gateway device.

These are just the features available at launch.  There are more features on the drawing board:

  • Monitor individual MTUs
  • Display all MTUs at the same time on the graphs
  • Improve graph quality and add axis tick marks as well as graph labels
  • Allow users to set their own update interval
  • Add a “test settings” option to the Settings screen

And there are some bugs to fix:

  • Settings will not save on HTC Evo 4G
  • A short timeout period may be causing some users to receive errors about network communications problems

Future releases and fixes will be made as I have time.  If you’re waiting on a bug fix or feature release, feel free to harass me to get me motivated in case I’ve been slacking.  ;-)
