What values do I enter in the fields on the Settings screen?
This will vary depending on your Energy Detective setup. The general guideline is that you will need to make sure your Energy Detective gateway is set to a static IP address on your network. Once setup, you will need to forward a port from your router to your Energy Detective gateway IP address. Basically, if you can access your Energy Detective gateway from the Internet from outside your home or workplace, iTED should work exactly the same way. So, if you use something like http://home.myhouse.net (as an example) to view the Footprints web site from the Internet, you would use “home.myhouse.net” as the hostname. Everything else can remain empty. However, if you use a different port on your router that forwards to your Energy Detective gateway, you might use an address like http://home.myhouse.net:8080. In that address, 8080 is the port number you would use in iTED. The username, password, and SSL are all settings that you have set up on the Energy Detective gateway device.

Since every network and router is setup differently, I can’t offer direct support for what it takes to expose your Energy Detective gateway device to the Internet. However, once exposed, you should be able to use iTED with it. For more help on setting up your Energy Detective gateway device to be Internet-accessible, please visit the forum thread.

Problems with saving settings
There have been reports on Android phones that the settings do not seem to save. One remedy has been to clear the app settings via Android’s app management screen.
